The layout on the 348 isn't the same as the 355 illustrated here. Check out the diagram in http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/112/280975.html for the 348 layout. As requested, here is a picture of the Exhaust Temperature ECU on the drivers side. There is another one on the passengers side. It's the black box with two nuts holding it on and two wires coming out, you can see some of the white printing on it. |

Here you are, "F" and "G". Start at the thermocouple and trace the wire back. This is for a 1998 355 so your ecu location may be different. The thermocouple is obviously located on the cat so just start at the cat and trace back the lead.

The thermocouples are in the cat as that is where they meausuring, the cat temp. Let me see if I can scan Page C-15 from my 355 manual so you can see. |

P. Thomas - thanks... but I think you are kindly mistaken... I already disconnected my ECU's... I'm just away from my car at the moment so I can't take/post any digi-shots! Good info, though... todd, hopefully, you can find it okay! (no need to touch it if you aren't having any slow down probs) |

Byron, look in your Owner's manual for thermocouples, then look for the ECUs that they are connected to. The ECUs are connected to the THERMOCOULPES on your catalytic converter. On my 355, they are located on the passanger side rear corner of the engine compartment. You may also be able to trace the wire. It is the PROBE looking thing sticking in the cat, not the larger one (O2 sensor ), but the other one. |

Todd, I am not in front of my car at the moment... Do a search (bottom left) and look for some pictures... Paul or Reiner - do you have any pictures handy of the exhaust ECU's you can post? |

Jean, I know quite a few people have disconnected their ECUs, I'm too chicken to do that because IF you do have a cat problem and the cats overheat, you will no longer notice, and you'll get a car fire!!! In fact, the computer is programmed to set the engine to "limp home" mode in the case of a serious overheat. It sounds to me like your ECUs are the old style ones with cracked seals, moisture will seep in and cause electrical problems. They're not that expensive to replace, Ogner LA charged 150$ / side for them |

Jean, Welcome to Fchat... there are lots of posts on this... most likely, this is being caused by your exhaust ECU's. You can restart your engine or just disconnect them. I did on my 348 and have not seen that problem anymore. Don't be too quick to replace your ECU's b/c they aren't necessarily faulty! You can also do a search for "Slow Down 1-4" or "Slow Down 5-8" |

hi, sometimes, but more often by rainy weather or by hot weather, my slow down lamp 5/8 lights up and the engine slows down for a while! This could happen right at the beginning of a trip so it hasn`t anything to do with overheating of the cat! So I turn off the engine ( even inbetween driving) and everything is OK again! Thanks for any advice and apologize my poor english! Greetings, Jean |
