Steve: When hot, my car will just crank away and the engine will not turn over. It sometimes takes 5 minutes of cranking (at 20 second intervals so my starter doesn't die) for the engine to finally turn over. JRV: When I unplugged the lead on the fueld distributor and plugged in my closed loop circut, the engine turned over by died after 5 seconds. I started the car 5 times and the same thing happened. I then unplugged my closed loop cirucit plug and reconnected everything back to normal. Car started and ran fine (when cold). Mark: Check the archives. Too much to list. |

Ken R. -- Are you saying it fires well and seems to run when the starter is cranking, but as soon as you stop cranking it dies? |

>> if you just unplug that lead on the fuel distributor and turn the ignition to "on", your fuel pump will start pumping.<< Correct >> I was told that if I jumped the wires going to the emergency fuel shut off properly I could start the car anytime and I could see if I still have my hot start issue. << Baloney |

Ken, what exactly is your car doing? I also have a hot start problem with my 1981 308 GTBi. Maybe we could exchange ideas ! |

I don't remember having to short anything when I was troubleshooting my fuel system. IIRC, if you just unplug that lead on the fuel distributor and turn the ignition to "on", your fuel pump will start pumping. |

I am still having a hot start issue with my 308QV and it was suggested that I bypass the emergency fuel shut off system to see if that is causing my problem.. Today I unplugged the blue snap-on plug that goes to the fuel distributor and jumped the wires that plug into the ditributor. I did not jump the plug on the distributor. When I went to start the car the engine will only run for a few seconds and die. Am I doing something wrong, or am I suppose to jump the plug on the fuel distributor and not the wires that would plug into the distributor? I was told that if I jumped the wires going to the emergency fuel shut off properly I could start the car anytime and I could see if I still have my hot start issue. Ken
