Hi Ron,

I have both parts I and II and they are each published by Veloce Press. Part II is, of course, the even-numbered competition cars (green cover).

Each listing provides the s/n, series (250, etc.), model, name and country or original owner if known, PF build number if applicable, chassis type, engine type, RHD or LHD, coachbuilder, and internal engine number if known.

Ron, yes that's the one I have and who I bought it from. Its a reprint done by Velocepress. I remembered there was a Part II by the original publisher, but it too is out of print and as far as I know, VP still hasn't done it (although you can check their website: http://www.velocepress.com/).

Odd sequence was a tradition used to differentiate road cars and race cars (and in this case, the book covers all of the road cars up to that number) but the road-going Dinos used even sequence and therefore, are not included in this book.

Peter, could you tell me about the Raab SN Book?

I searched Amazon and they have one for sale that says "Part I Odd Numbered Sequence to 21399".

Is this the book you have? Is there a Part II? What models are covered in Part I? Why is the book "Odd Numbered Sequence"? Did Ferrari only use odd numbers on SN's?

Wayne, feel free to jump in as well.

Thanks

I had the same situation. These books are not always correct. According to "the books"
my car should also be glass and its not.
Some of this mis-info came from non-usa cars.
Look for a split on the windshield posts about 3/4 of the way up. If its not there..its not glass. Mine is #20405 nov. 1976 build and it is steel.
Don't believe everything you read...some of these historians are misinformed.

Thanks, I thought that was the case.

Maybe more can confirm tomorrow.

In Hilary Raab's S/N book, #20435 is listed as a 'Glass car and "your" car right after it is plainly labled as "308 GTB". Further down the page (with alot of blank spaces in between the numbers I'll add), #20497 is a 'Glass car too.

So it looks to be the case, 'Glass and ferrous cars along the same line.

Found a 1976 GTB, that is NOT fiberglass. The guy says it's one of the early Steel cars. It was delivered in March of 1977 but the model year is a 1976.

Bluemel's book (p 57) says
308 GTB (Glass-fibre) 1976-1977
Chassis # 18677-21289
Number built 712

The car I'm looking at is 20437 which falls in the 1976 year, but it's not glass.

Anyone know a little more about Ferrari's odd production at that time? Weren't some steel and glass cars made next to each other on the production line?
