Thanks for the response Dave. I put a ball bearing in the hose to the air valve and that slowed the idle down to 5-600 when cold and of course when the water/engine temp came up the idle stayed the same. I think your right, it's probably not that big a deal, I just don't like to rev up cold engines. I think I'll leave the ball out and try it the way it was designed. Thanks again for your response. The cold idle is set by the aux air valve. The only way I could see to "adjust" it would be to figure out a way to put some sort of partial obstruction in the air pathway...it would probably be sort of "trial and error" to get the idle you want. Personally, I don't think it is that big a deal..., but my 328 cold idle is only about 1500 to 1600. But I have heard the early FI cars were set up for a higher pre-set cold idle setting. |

No answers yet, so I assume that 2200 rpm at cold start is o.k. and there are no adjustments, right?? Roger B. |

Is there any way to regulate or diminish the rpm's(2200) during cold start. This just seems too high to me, shouldn't it be around 15-1800 max? Thanks, roger B. |
