Success! Since I knew from your answer it screws off normal, I used GM process number 1 (extreme predujicial force), and off it came. New one is on, and my idle oil pressure went from <30PSI to about 80! Yeah! I love fchat. Thanks Greg.

I removed the filter housing from the car then removed the sending unit. It is normal rotation to loosen it. I had to remove an adapter so my new sending unit would fit.

I can't get it off! Is doesn't screw on in reverse does it? I can't get a wrench on it due to the oil filter's flange, so I tried to screw it off with vise grips, but no dice since its round. Is there a trick?
