Here I thought the clamps where installed in such a way that they could only be removed after half the car was disasembled. |

Hose clamps should be installed to be aesthetically pleasing with practical positioning of drive screws and aligned as pairs on short pipes where necessary. It's how all new cars are delivered, with a yellow/green paint put in the screw slot to show quality control hss passed it! They should also be the correct size, without excessive tails and not just cut down with razor edges. The zebra brand is common, with stainless straps and gold colour steel hex head screws of either 6mm or 7mm depending on pipe size. It's best to use a socket to turn them, to avoid slipping and burring over the edges. When I judge concours (rarely), I will mark a car higher if these details are correct. It's the attention to detail that separates good from bad in most things.

No kidding. The first thing I thought - "holy crap this guy is serious" . I went downstairs to look at my car and said "no way would they deduct points for that .............. would they"? Maybe the wrong kind of hose clamps, but not the direction. I give Christopher credit for even thinking of that. |

Now that's what I call paying attention to the concourse details! |

Not likely. Probably depended on which mechanic put them on. |
