Alan It has the side terminals but they are covered by plastic I think. I agree, that would be even more dangerous. Mike Thanks! I know about the lights. There was a lot of talk about that here on FChat. My car is probably light years from even being considered for a show. Seems like finding exact parts is so hard and too much has been changed already. |

Barney, off topic here, but I looked at your profile... nice yellow GTB! Did you realize that your tail lights/turns signals are opposite from what normally comes on the cars from the factory? The red brake lights are usually to the inside, with the amber turn lights on the outside. It's apparently a common thing to have them reversed if your car is ever taken apart for body work or repaint. Doesn't hurt anything, of course... but you mentioned in another thread about concours...

Hi Barney, that bar you covered with the pipe insulation is the front anti roll bar. I'm not really sure, but since the anti roll bar rotates back and forth as the car goes up and down, it might eventually wear through your pipe insulation. Just a thought to consider. By the way, some optima batteries have screw in side terminals as well as the top posts. If your battery is one of them, you might want to make sure that they don't rub up against the anti roll bar. |

I did some research here and elsewhere and decided to replace my battery (not sure when it was replaced by prev. owner and there was no date stamped on the battery) with an Optima. Now, the problem - how did you guys secure it? The hold down didn't fit. I carefully cut the hold down and flipped it upside down. seems really tight. Also, The battery has the potential to hit a cooling pipe because it sticks out past the bar that goes across the battery compartment. I placed a piece of pipe insulation on the bar and now the battery can't move back and can't hit the cooling pipe. One last thing. I changed the battery clamps to new brass ones. Much better IMO. To get the lead ones off they had to be cut with a hacksaw length wise.
