Yep - I looked into it in the UK - Shell Optimax is the highest octane pump gas on normal sale at 98 octane (Super Unleaded normaly 97 Octane). Have to watch out for difference between US and UK Octane ratings - we use a different standard - uk=RON. |

In Australia, Optimax is 98 Octane. Is that definitley different to your US supplied stuff?? Mobil Synergy 8000 is also 98 Octane, but the Dyno shows small gains. I'm a Castrol fan. Castrol R Synthetic 10w/60 in the (Modern/550/360)engine. Multitrax 75w/90 in transaxle. "Response" brake fluid, or SRF for hard core brakes. Any old coolant mix is fine, at 30% mix anyway. For sub zero temps I've no experience! In the Challenge cars, the Shell Helix has viscosity problems at very high oil temps, with spikes of zero oil pressure on the datalogging. Castrol keeps it over 2 bar. |

Thomas, Shell 'Optimax' fuel is 100 octance and its great for the performance engine. More power, cleans valves. |

Is there a particular distiller of fuel/lube you swear by (or at, for that matter) or is it Shell all the way? For reference's sake: "Ferrari's Secret Weapon" http://www.shellvelocity.com/international1.html Though I've seen references to oil on F-C, haven't seen Fuel as a topic. Apologies if this is an old discussion. |
