Paul, My brakes work fine for now, so I am not in a rush to do this job...it may be a while as I wish to combine it with swapping out the brake pads too...but there is a lot of meat left in them right now, and I am not a "track rat" so fine with stock pads for now. |

I recently installed the Goodridge lines. The clamping portion was different (my originals had threads with hex-nuts to hold the line to the bracket, my Goodridge lines have clips). I had to replace the brake tubing (eight pieces) because the recessed mating surface on the new lines had a steeper angle so there was no way for the existing tubing to seal. They all had the ISO end setup, but the angle was just different enough that it would not seal. I made special mandrels on my lathe for bending new tubes to match the originals. Both tubes that fit to the lines, times four wheels, had to be replaced. I originally had ATE lines. Had I known the problem, I would have just used ATE replacements, though new metal tubing is the best thing anyway. The pedal feel is solid, no squish at all. It makes heel-and-toe easier for me. The stainless lines also look cool. |

Do you know what the product was? It's easier to find. |

It's the Teflon line that doesn't swell, the stainless steel braiding is armor protection. The Teflon also helps keep moisture away. |

Dave, Changing from standard hoses to anything else can sometimes produce a change in brake pedal 'feel'. I suppose this is caused by either the new hose having s smaller bore diameter or actually having stainless lines which do not 'flex' under pressure. Either way, it is just different. The other point to look out for is with s/s braided hose, the outside diameter of the hose is usually slightly larger than the standard rubbber coated ones, which can lead to the hose not sitting in the holder clamp. Had lots of this kind of experiences in my previous Porsche. Thought you might want to know. Thanks for your help on ebay search techniques. ctk |

Silly question number one. Is that for 2 or 4 lines? |

No affiliation, but heard Demon Tweeks mentioned as a good source for Goodridge ss braided brake lines so I ordered a set. Delivery was 16 days from UK, which makes sense, since they have extensive listings and probably had to order them from Goodridge first. $72.41 for 328 application, plus $23.72 for shipping, total $96.13. Look very nice, come with "lifetime warranty". When you order, the shipping is not calculated. You find out the shipping costs when the product arrives (actual shipping applies) or you can request a shipping estimate before they ship, but this can further delay your order. Anyway, under $100 for something others are paying upwards of $300 for seems like a pretty good deal. www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/ |
