Philip, do you have a Napa part# &/or the specs on those brass caps? |

I bought some brass caps from Napa, pulled the air injectors from the head, screwed the caps onto the air injectors. Then put them back in. All in all it looks quite neat, works well and can be easily removed if the air injection paraphenalia needs to be returned to operating mode. |

Thanks for the reply Terry, I've heard alot of people comment on the "chirping" noises on 308's, perhaps your information has some merit. At this point, I want to get an old air-nozzle in my hand so I can see exactly what it will take to cap this nozzle as it rests in the cyl. head. Does anyone know the dia./thread pitch of the male end of the nozzle that connects with the air-injection manifold???

Ive done this. Getting the front bank air injection manifold off the car is really lots of fun! The bolts you need are 14x1.5 as posted. They will then need to be machined so they have the proper little nub on the end to fill up the space where the air nozzle went. If you just cut the bolts off and screw them in, without the little nub end... you will get a loud and annoying chirping sound from the exhaust. Apparently the exhaust gas going past the empty air nozzle passages creates this chirping noise. At least thats the theory at this point. If you need the specs for the parts to be machined to, email me and I can send it all to you. |

If the plugs you need are 14x1.5, there are several place to buy them. Here is one place for $2.33 each. http://www.fittingsandadapters.com/malmetplugme.html |

Stacy, may you get in touch with me again? I had sent you an email a while back concerning this and it bounced back. I still have this info if you need it... [email protected] And Peter Barbin, I'm the Peter that Dave is refering to and I've been down this road. I can suggest to you, that the effort required to remove the rails/pipes, you might as well carry forth and pull the injectors as well and install the plugs right away... |

My car is of age where I no longer need to smog the poor thing in WA state. Off comes the air-injection system! (Into an antiquity box for safe keeping) Norwood Performance has plugs for the air-injection nozzles, 14 x 1.5mm w/copper gaskets...from their local supplier. Leaving this air-nozzle removal job for winter, I'd like to cap off the air-nozzles while they remain in the head so I can at least get all the plumbing out of engine-bay. Has anyone been down this road? What is the thread pitch/dia. of the male ends of the air-nozzles where the air-rails thread on, I want to cap the nozzles! PeterB. [email protected] |
