10/4 Paul that's what I was referring to, a safety switch.

Magoo,

Actually it's the fuel/air switch but also acts as a saftey switch for the fuel pump.

Whenever you need to test fuel pump unplug this switch and pump will run constant.

Paul, I think you are talking about a "inertia" switch.

The driver seat fuel pump shut off switch is on the carbed cars only, FI cars have a saftey switch built into the fuel distributor which activates on a roll over.

I've seen this switch in my Parts Catalogue (1979), part #20274601 "Interruttore a nastro" (whatever that means).

My owners manual doesn't say anything about it and I've never heard about it until now...so, I'm assuming it doesn't. But it does seem like some nice added security to add a hidden switch with it like you guys can.

Bret, I don't think so but your Owners Manual will tell you. You must sit in the driver's seat to activate the fuel pump electricly when it is hooked up originally.

Is this switch on the 85?

Steve, I hooked mine up with a hidden switch, and yes you do have to remember that it is off before you start out or it will shut down on you. That's why I said be sure you turn it on before you start. The warning light is a good idea.

When I purchased my (used) ex-308GTS it already had the fuel pump seat switch unplugged and the input wires shorted together (and I just left it that way). In a previous (carburetted) car I had a (console-mounted) toggle switch on the fuel pump electrics and found it critical to add a visual red light/LED indicator somewhere in the instrument/console view (to come on when the engine is "on" but the fuel pump is not) because I gaurentee occasionally the pilot will forget (and unfortunately, there's just enough fuel in the bowl to get you out of the parking lot, into the lefthand turn lane, and rolled out into the intersection!)

Just curious, How many of you guys who own older 308s still have the elec. fuel pump switch hooked up that is in the driver's seat? I am sure that many of you do not. A good use for it is to disconnect it, add a small hidden toggle switch across the line and turn it off when you park so if the car is stolen it won't go far. Just be sure to turn it on before you start it. Just a Tip.
