Thanks Coachi. Same trick works for front end covers the first time.

One suggestion... when I installed mine in a relatively cold climate I had failed to "warm" the cover. I had difficulty fitting it as it barely fit. I suggest you place the cover on a flat surface in the sun for a while till it feels soft then install it

Thanks Steve. Sounds easy enough. Wasn't sure whether to use adhesive. I knew the vinyl had to be trimmed. Ordered the new cover and gasket from a supplier in Modena two years ago, but never got around to installing them.

Hi,

Did it in the 1985 308 here and the procedure should be nearly the same for a 328. Bought a replacement rear plastic cover from Ferrari UK. The rubber gasket is available at www.jcwhitney.com for about $40 or so. In the 1985 QV here the gasket was simple pressure fitted in, so removal was simply taking it off. The vinyl cover is just press-fit in by the gasket, yet over the years it really forms with the car's metal.

Once the gasket and cover are off, naturally you'll clean the area. Give it a nice clean/wash/wax/etc as it will be sealed off again and may as well have everything happy :-)

The cover from Ferrari UK is oversized so that it is easy to install. Have two friends - one on each side - evenly stretch the cover as you put on the new gasket. The gasket pressure fits and will stay on without glues or the like.

Once all is set you will have extra vinyl hanging out on the outside of gasket. i used a razer knife to carefully cut off the extra vinyl to give a perfect fitted/clean appearance like new.

Hope this helps. If you have added questions feel free to let me know. ALWAYS glad to be of service.

Enjoy the Drive,

Has anyone replaced their zippered cover and rubber gasket? Any tricks? Things I should look out for?

Thanks
