The carb tops and stacks are scarce, so I can't offer advice other than keep posting and maybe ask for them in the FML. I am working with a shop to fabricate the screens for the stacks, and hope to have some soon. My cold air box is aluminum with black crinkle paint. It has a flat base, which attaches to the carb tops, then the stacks attach inside the base. The air "horn" top has a rectangular snorkle that goes over the top of the radiator tank. It's a close fit, measured with clay at several locations, but does not hit anything. I can send some dimensions or photos to Terry if contacted via E-mail at [email protected]

Tom emailed me, his carb tops and stacks are sold.

Who else has some, wants to sell and can give me a reasonable price?

thanks!

I think he had 2 airboxes... 1 aluminum and 1 fibreglass. The aluminum one may be from the black spider.

If Tom has the airbox from the black spyder conversion, it won't fit properly. It is a not so well made reproduction and will leave a nice dent in your hood. I helped the guy put it on and it does not fit correctly.

Here's what the originals look like, so I'm sure even the purists should approve .

Call TWM induction. They make the best velocity stacks. Custom made me a set for my 65 Shelby. We can probably make you the base plates and braze them together. I think I know a guy that has a factory air box. I'll check into it.

Ahhhhhhh JRV, the man I was looking for!

Why on earth NOT mod the car a bit in a period correct way? My car already has a front auxilliary oil cooler and a fire suppression system. It also had the engine built to factory competition specs, tons of machining and balancing work, etc. I feel that if you keep the original parts and do nothing to the car that is not "bolt on - bolt off", what the heck. Sure some of the super anal concours car guys will frown, but I drive my cars not trailer them to shows and wipe them with a diaper all the time.

Anyhow, off the soapbox. Where, when, how much and what all else do you think I should do at the same time?

Im not happy with the sounds the car makes right now. The prior owner installed a very high quality stainless exhaust system. Its gorgeous, perfectly built to factory specs... and makes the car too quiet for my tastes. Ala Bill Badurskys car, I plan to remove the entire center section mufflers and resonators and then install straight pipes back to the rear resonators and tips. My understanding is that not only will the car suffer less backpressure, but it wont be terribly loud except over 4000rpm and under full throttle. In other words, exactly when I want it to be terribly loud!

Im sure the purist will crap their pants.

You need the carb tops as well, unless you machine off the choke butterfly mounts portion.

I have a set of both, but never really considered getting rid of them. Actually fiqured the days of modding the cars had gone away.

Im going to fabricate a factory type cold air induction box for my Daytona. My understanding of this is that it will require the factory type velocity stacks. The cold air box is relatively simple to make (I think.... Bill Badursky where are you?!?!?!), but Im not going to whip out a set of the stacks!

Anyone know where I can get a set of the velocity stacks? Thanks for the help.

Also... if Bill does poke his head in here: do you have a set of plans/specs for the cold air box I can use? Any chance you want to help me make one?
