Now that you have the data, and have to reinstall them, why not actually measure the alignment of the caliper to the rotor and see if it is, indeed, square?

Henry - profoundly simple, yet so important. Thank you. Helpful idea.

Jim: When I did mine, I applied a little grease to the shims.......this helped a lot in holding them in place while inserting the bolt.

Jim,
One thick and one thin on each bolt....between the caliper and inside of the support. If memory serves me correctly, a bit of a pain to install.

The purpose of these spacers, as I see it, was to, in essence, center the rotor between the caliper.

Regards,
David

While swinging my rear calibers out of the way to install new Konis, four spacers (washers) fell to the floor. Gravity does this. There were two "thicker" and two "thinner" washers. I understand that these are to align the caliber to be parallel with the rotor.

Question - what is the factory set up. Was there one thick and one thin on each of the two bolts clamping the caliber to the hub? Or might there have been two thin washers on one bolt, and two thick on the other.

Help is appreciated.

Jim S.
