Lets hope you didn't short out the regulator. It is always best to remove the positive or negative battery cable before starting an electrical repair. Check your local listings for an electrical repair shop. Many of them can help you if needed. |

John, check the connections to the 12v distribution junction panel. This is the small white coloured box/ panel located below the fuze panel. The junction box feeds the fuze panels & regulator. You may well have disturbed the connections in and out of the ditribution box. I had the same problem and found the connecter feeding the alternator had gone high resistance. |

Use a voltmeter to check the voltage at the battery when the car is running. What does it read? NOTE: DO NOT CHECK CURRENT (in Amps) -- too much current for most household voltmeters.

Last night I did the headlight modification on my 78 308 according to the instructions posted here recently. Everything worked great. Then today when I took her for a spin I noticed the "G" (alternator) light glowing. It glows fairly bright at idle and slowly gets dimmer at increased rpm, but never goes completely out. Did I accidently loosen a wire while doing the mod? I haven't looked into it yet but thought I'd ask before digging around. Also I disconnected the wires I attached to the fuse block last night but no diff. |
