Thanks for the replies, guys.

Hey Joe - traded the 348 for the 355. Never been happier - except for the aforementioned gremlins.
Where you been?

I had the grounding strap installed last week when, once again, the error codes were downloaded and it was the damn O2 sensor again! The alternator was checked for output and was fine. We thought it was licked and only hours later the lights activated again.

My abilities are limited here, so I am subject to the $ 95/hr diagnosis charge. . .and this is starting to be ridiculous. I am starting to think that I will have to live with the "Christmas Tree"
as I learned to live with the semi-comatose seatbelts of the 348!

If anyone has any suggestions - beside going back to a Corvette where this stuff is non-existent - please let me know.

Can one go back to a Corvette after a Ferrari - I highly doubt it!!

Take care all.

Neil, I'm not sure about the other electic gremlins, but if you open the engine hatch while in gear in an F1, the tranny does go into neutral as a safety feature of sorts.

Sorry to hijack the thread there Lou!
Congrats on the 355! What happened to the 348?

For what it's worth, the suspension light coming on after starting the car while stationary for some time is nothing new. Usually goes away after moving the car a few feet or upon restart.
Someone came up with a great reason for it happening, but I cannot remember it at the moment.

The check engine light may be caused by a faulty connection. My '95 would indicate "check 5-8" over certain bumps. Drove me crazy! Never stored any fault codes, either.

Good luck with the alternator light, but I had an alternator die on my '95 355 for unknown reasons.
Does it output proper voltage while the light is on?

Nice to hear from you!

I Also have similar weird warning lamps on my F1 355 Spider, cylinder bank warnings, active suspension etc, also weirdest of all when stationary or just pulling up to junction the rear lid warning lamp will flash, then Knock itself out of gear, flash a bit more and until it stops u cannot reselect 1st gear, leaving u look a right lemon, any answers to this problem would be well received, ps have adjusted hatch leaving no vibration movement.

I agree, it sounds like a wiring/connector issue. Start at the alternator, work you way up to the voltage regulator and back to the ignition key.

Get the electrical issue solved first, the rest of the idiot lights might just go away if you get the alternator working perfectly.

Lou,
What year is your 355? There is an upgraded ground strap (cable) for the 95 to 96(?). Runs from the alternator to the chassis, cost is about $15 (available from dealer), easy install according to Dennis Liu. This may/should help with your electrical gremlins; may not solve them all, but should help.

OK - So we have all learned to live with the dreaded "Check Engine 1/4 or 5/8" light. Everytime I take the 355b out I wonder when I will see the 5/8 light. Now I have two others:

1. At around 4800r's, any gear, the alternator light starts to brighten until it is fully lit at 5k, only to dim and turn off around 5200! New battery, output checks out fine during normal test. Any ideas?

2. Suspension Failure Light - No rhyme or reason.
From time to time, it activates, only to turn off at a later time. Again - any ideas?

It is getting to the point that I am just living with various lights activated and any given time -for no apparent reason.

Help?
