Just left the mechanics shop.
We DO have spark.
Not getting any fuel to 1-4.
Vacuum hose seems to be puffing instead of sucking.
I'm thinking maybe timing??
Any ideas? |

JDC -- should be no big mystery here -- it's just a simple single-point/coil/condensor system:
power to the coil?
condensor not shorted?
cap/rotor OK?
points opening/closing OK?
coil & coil lead OK?
etc.
The only thing a little tricky is getting the mechanical phasing of the dist rotor right wrt the dist cap (if you remove the distributor). When you say "no spark" is that no spark at the plugs AND no spark at coil secondary wire? |

No spark at all on 1-4.
I'll pass any suggestions on to the mechanic.
70 - 80 degrees here in Indiana in early November and I don't have my car to enjoy it.
Now that really sucks.

You don't mention wheter or not you have spark. I have had this situation twice. Once the cause was a rotor that spit in two in one of the distributors (this has happened to others as well so it is not that rare) The other time the primary lead (one of the small wires on the side of one of the coils) had vibrated off so that it looked like it was still connected but actually was not.

My first problem is that I'm in southern Indiana and have to rely on a mechanic who is a Ferrari Virgin. For some reason the 1-4 bank on my 79 308 does not run. I couldn't find any problem so I took it to a very competant non-Ferrari mechanic.
He cannot find any problem either. It does appear that someone has installed single points instead of dual points.
Does anyone have any ideas?
