Did you get this figured out? I noticed that the starter would engage in the on position if you have the wrong relay in the upper right position of the relay panel- as this is the relay for the cold start injector. |

If it is the same as an 82 308, you must remove the (2) #1 head size phillips screws from the part the spade terminals plug into. It might be tough to see the upper screw but it is fastened by both edges. Once the screws are out, pull the ignition switch out straight towards the front of the car. The key portion of the switch stays in the car. I just replaced one of these, GT car parts stocks this item. |

The Parts Catalogue is a good reference for how the part is put together, in an exploded view. Only shows the one system at a time and not in the relation to the others (eg: one page, the steering column, the next page the dash board). But a thorough review should give the idea. |

Never mind. It was the fuse for the starter cut-off switch. Turns out my ignition key switch might be shot as the starter engages at the ignition-on position. The fuse blew because the starter won't disengage. Can anyone tell me how to get the blasted ingition switch out of the steering column? I removed the phillips head screw from the rear and pushed in the button on the top but it won't budge. Is there a secret that I don't know about? I have a shop manual, but not an electrical manual. Can anyone assist? |

Fuel pump is working. Loud buzzing sound coming from the fuel distributor. Car starts and dies immediately. History: She started up uncharacteristicly "cranky" yesterday after two weeks of rest, then idled fine for five minutes. Got 1/4 mile from the house and she backfired once and then died. Would not re-start. Got her back to the garage and noticed the loud buzzing coming from the fuel distributor. Is something cavitating inside? It sounds just like an electric pump sucking air. It's getting fuel. Could there be a blockage somewhere or might it be some electrovalve that has gone haywire? Does it need to be primed? Any ideas? |
