It is possible but unlikely. Usually if the pump sits without coolant in the engine the pump can leak when first filled then stop leaking. I have seen new and rebuilt pumps leak until the seal seats but this is rare and usually wishful thinking that they will stop. |

I just ran my car, and the water pump is leaking under the weep hole. Someone said that this happens when the car sits too long and it will stop if I run it. Is this a correct statement? Thanks Mike |

If its just to replace the seal, then only a matter of removing the pump and removing the impeller blade to gain access to the seal. Easy. Removing bearings is tricky and should only be done if they're shot (if they grumble when you spin them). If they spin fine, leave'em (your '85 will have the better pump, so it'll have larger bearings and better seals than earlier 308 pumps). |

Hi Mike! I just did the water pump service on my 84 QV. Actually I took it off and just sent it to Nicky Scianna and he looked it over and gave it a clean bill of health and I stuck it back on the car. Nick can sell you the rebuild kit, or he can rebuild it for you using nice upgraded parts. www.nicksforzaferrari.com Nicky comes highly recommended, ezpecially by me! He is awesome. If you have any questions about the removal, lemme know. I'd be happy to help. |

Can someone tell me how difficult it is to rebuild a water pump for a 1985 308 QV? I have seen the rebuild kits on Italiancarparts.com and might want to undertake this procedure myself. What does the procedure involve? Thanks Mike |
