Martin, that's about what a dealer would have charged to find that check for you.

Don,
as I said, my thng did not go off either and the seat belt mouse did not work either just not realized it. The reason was a $628.32 check stuck in the track....
I was looking for that darn check under the seat and did not find it. When I checked out my seatbelts last weekend, bang here is the check and off goes the light and zoom makes the mouse! Everything back to normal.

Check the track....

Martin, I have faith you can put the carpet back together. My car is not a Challenge car and if it is then all 348's are Challenge cars, sounds good eh? I'm sure yours have them also. Please check them for me, I'm curious about this, can anyone else tell me if it's on every 348? Or bring it to me and I'll look at it, will I find something under the carpet? If it's money, I will keep he he.... if it's something else, well...

Bob.

Modman,
your car sounds like a Challenge car. Those were the only ones that had predrilled holes for the roll cage and soforth as far as I know.

I am not afraid to pull it apart, I am afraid of not being able to put it back together...

Martin, look under the carpet near the center console and you will see thread holes for the belts, and to the left and right inside the boxes below the rear window there are also hidden thread holes for the belts. And also the pan has thread holes for a roll cage too, all factory fit.. real easy. Don't be afraid to pull apart your car.

If there's anything that bothers me about cars is amber and red lights on the dash that indicate a malfunction. I too had the seat belt light illuminated for the drivers side. It turned out to be the limit switch inside the trac. The switch was pushed a little keeping it from closing all the way causing the light to stay on. A little readjustment fixed that.

Funny,

my light won't go off either. Just drove the car and it does not shut off on either belt holder.

who cares...

I have been told that the systems used in GM cars in late 1980s early 1990s are the same as the TR and 348 systems. Could be you could get the parts at your local NAPA store.

Modman,
if you used thes e points can you please take close ups and post them or e-mail them to me. I want to work with both. Have the opportunity to hook 5 point on for track and use the system for daily driving.

On the problem:
On your seat is a seat belt connector as well. I use that one for track. Makes me feel more comfortable. Click it in there and see if the light goes off.
It sounds more like a problem with the connection of power to the system.

Don W. -- I believe the 348 seat belt schematics/info that you seek will be in a different "booklet" (at least that's how the documentation is structured on TRs of the same era). Here's a jpeg of the TR version booklet cover:

TR seat belt manual

I'd check with Kurt White at:

http://www.ferraribooks.com

and/or

Ken Lewis at:

http://www.ferrariliterature.com

Even if they don't have one, perhaps they might know the print number (XXX/YY) of what you seek.

Don, behind the seat near the back of the railing you will find some wires that are connected by connectors. I beleive they supply the power to the seat belts. Check to see if one has become disconnected. My became disconnected for whatever reason a few weeks back and my "mouse" wouldn't work. If there is actually something wrong with the mouse, it will probably be cheaper to do as Modman has suggested. Goodluck.

Well Don, my suggestion is to take the darn ugly messy heavy garbage design seat belt system out and put a 4 or 5 point harness belt system in. If you look under the carpet and behind the rear panels there are threaded bolt holes designed for the belts. And the reason for the belt system failure is more likely because you have a broken plastic contact switch where the belt goes toward you and they are really cheesy in durability. Also check under the seat for the plugs that may have come loose. Let me know if that helps you at all.. Peace...

Hi Folks,
I need some technical help from one of you experts out there. My 1990 348 has the "mad mouse" passive seat belt system but the passenger side does not work (the belt attach does not move and the seat belt light remains on even with the seatbelt hooked). I found the ECUs and swapped them but the probelm did not switch sides so that doesn't seem to be the problem. The schematic set I have does not have the seat belt system so I'm at a loss as to where to continue debugging. Does anyone have a schematic they would be willing to copy for me? Anyone had any experience with these systems? Any help would be much appreciated!
