Mitchell, With a little silicon lube, and trial (and error) you can fit the 8mm wires into a Merilli cap w/o drilling it out. Measure and mark the wire with a pen to ensure that you got it all the way in. Check ohm's when complete, cap contact to plug clip, to be sure your screw is penetrating the core of the new wire. Get the 8mm size, spiral core, straight plug end type. (Pep Boys approx $65.00 cheeper then $700.00 !!!!!!) Bend the straight end into 45 deg w/ needle nose pliers, prior to sliding on the 45 deg red silicon caps. (for QV) Lube with dish soap and water, wash out the soap after finished. Or keep the straight ends "as is" for you 308 - 2V guys. |

Do I need to worry about what the resistance is of the new set of wires that I purchase? |

I bought a set of V-8 set of 8mm high performance wires from "Performance Plus" in Oakland. It is cut long, but I used what I needed and got enough left over for another set of wires. I paid $65. I did have to shave down the wires a little at the cap ends. Or, you can drill the caps. Oh, the wires are ferrari RED. |

Greg, I bought a complete orig. set, cavis, from G.T. Car parts. Wire looms, rubber bushings , green coil covers for the coil wires already made up with boots ready to install. About a year ago I paid $104.00. G.T. Car Parts Bill or Dave, 1-623-780-2200. Best way to go I think. |

I want to replace the plug wires on my 78' 308 but not the cap. The question is should I stay with 7mm or can I go to 8mm? Is so do I have to cut the cap out a little? What is the best wire to purchase? |
