I just made a new set of wires for my 86 328GTS at a price of $50. Go to the web and type in ignition wires and go to the site Magnecore and buy a roll of the correct size wire. You'll know you're in the right place because their front page has an 8cyl Ferrari engine on it. Anyway making the set is very easy. Simply remove the old wires by removing the ditributor caps or covers and unscrew the brass piercing screw that holds the wires in the cap. Remove the extenders. Then roll back the silicone sheaths and slide off...some times they stick. Next being careful you can work the rubber boot off the end; not easy but can be done. The very carefully uncrimp the metal clip that holds the wire on trying not to over bend them. There is a small piece of flat wire stuck in the end of the wire for good contact. I believe it is silver...clean and save it for the new wires. Simply cut the wires to length and reverse the prosess. Good luck |

Don't forget to try www.trutlands.com , I have always found them to be less expensive. |

Fred, what 308 do you have? We can use aftermarket 7mm wires on our engines because of the separate boot and extenders. On 328's however, it looks to me that they use a molded one piece boot, to give it that curved shape. So I'm not sure if Cory could pull the wire out of that boot and replace. With the 308 twin distributors, you should buy two four-cylinder kits instead of a V-8 kit (that way you get two coil wires). |

I have after market plug wires on my 308 and they work great. My mechanic said they would work just as well as the factory ones but were a lot cheaper. $900 for plug wires!! Sounds pricy to me. |

A good Ferrari mechanic told me that you have to use factory spark plug wires or it will mess with the computers but they want $900.00 for a set. ItalianCarParts.com out of Oregon sells a complete "competition" set for $250.00. Will this work or am I going to burn up the wires and possibly my money. Need help, I don't want my car to sit too long. 1987 Ferrari 328. |
