Clark -- glad it's worked out for you -- probably was a faulty/intermittent microswitch. |

Steve, I replaced the relays and that did not work either. I bought a used motor from TRutlands for $115 and it has worked great. Clark |

Clark -- check the schematic. The microswitches would be shown pictorially next to the "M" motor symbol of the headlight lifting motors (and will be interconnected in the motor power network). This microswitch technology is used on both my ex-'78 and '91 so your '85 probably has the same design. Fortunately, I've not had the need to do any repair to the headlight lifting motors, but my guess would that the microswitch assembly would be well-integrated into the motor assembly itself so probably not separately replaceable. Still, I'm reluctant to give any specific advice for any F electrical problem beyond: get the schematic and a multi-meter and diagnose it before swapping out parts. |

Steve, I don,t think so. Although I am not well versed in electrical things. Can you describe what it would look like? Are they in the motor or outside? Clark |

Clark -- are there cam-actuacted microswitches on the headlight lifting motor shafts? |

I have a headlamp on a 85 308 that occasionally goes up, it always cycles down. I have checked the diodes they are OK, I ahve replaced the relays but still the same. Any thoughts??? |

It could be a bad connection, a lot of them are exposed to the elements. Twice I've had freak headlight things, both times with the right. Both times it didn't go up, so I turned the lights off and then turned them on again and it went up. I figure twice in a year isn't so bad, but I'm gonna go over contacts soon anyways. If you do wind up needing a motor, I have a used one that works very well (looks to be almost new) that I picked up when I got other parts (I didn't need a motor cause mine both work so I just kept it on the shelf). Needless to say, I'd sell it for a lot less than 800. |

I am having trouble with my right headlamp. It does not raise every time I turn on the lights, but it always goes down. The Ferrari shop in Atlanta had it for 5 days and said it worked for them every time they tried it. They did switch the right and left relays to see if that was the problem. Since I have had it back it works only occasionally, just like before. Ferrari says I have to replace the motor and it will be $800. Any suggestions...could it be a bad diode? If not is $800 reasonable? Help Clark |
