James -- some things to consider: 1. it's best to make sure that the rear brake pad mechanical position adjustments (within the calipers themselves) are decent before making the cable adjustments. 2. there are both RH and LH threads in the cable adjustment mechanisms so note this before trying to loosen the lock nuts. I believe Ric Rainbolt had given a written procedure on 308 emergency brake adjustments (containing info on both the rear caliper adjustments and the cable adjustments) on the FList. If someone here doesn't have it, I'm sure Ric would repost it if you asked on the FList. |

The 2 small nuts on the sides are locking nuts. Loosen them out of the way and then move the Long sleeve to tighten it to the desired length. I hope that this helps. |

How do I tighten the hand brake? The 308 manual I have says to "act on the tightening mechanism" or something. That's fine, but what exactly do you do? There is a big turnbuckle like item bordered by a nut on either side. So what do I turn? Thanks, James |
