Dittos on the Optima. For a trickle charger, get any of the 1 to 2 amp models that are "automatic" or "smart". There are many available and they are all similar. Find one that comes with quick disconnects that you permanently attach to the battery. Then slip the leads up into the front trunk or through the front grill. |

Here is the really slick fix to the Mondial's problem. 1st replace the battery with the best you can find with a great exchange warranty because you will most likely replace it every two years...if your lucky. 2nd when replacing the battery add a quick connect/disconnect plug to the battery (additional wire required) and have the female end nicely straped inside the front, or if you really don't want to have to deal with it have the end hidden inside one of the fron grill slots. Have the other end connected to a set of jumpers or to a charger. Costs about $100 for the plugs and wire. Check any race prep shop or look in racing equipment catalogs. |

JMG, I also have a Mondial t cab. THe battery situation is insane. Here is what I do, 1) buy a optimum battery (much discussed here in chat) these batteries have BOTH top post and side mmount terminals...sooooo .. 2) the posts I use fo rthe car and starter and then I connect a side terminal to a battery cable which I lead up into the front boot compartment and tape them up so there is no shorting possible. I use these to jump the battery and you can use a trickle charger, I prefer to simply disconnect the battery. I have a Q, I need a high output alternator for this car, for my stereo etc. any thoughts? What models fit? |

I am using my old trickle charger from my Harley-Davidson. Go to the local HD, they are fairly cheap and small. |

I have an 89 Mondial...not impossible to jump but would like to add a second set of terminals above the battery. Figure I will add a trickle charger connection while I am at it. 1. Recs for tricle charger? I have a standard charger with a 2amp setting, but would prefer something less industrial. 2. Anyone done the terminal move? Where did you get parts from? Thanks, JMG |
