The aluminum plate is an excellent idea.

I have an aftermarket front spoiler on my 90TR. I bought it that that so I don't know who makes it. It's slimmer and gives you more ground clearance. I rarely scrap now. Also, I had the bodyshop put an aluminum plate on the bottom lip so I scrap that instead of the spoiler. Here is a pic \image {TR} (Hope the pic works, never tried posting it)

I simply do mine, paint and any touch ups every winter. I figure par for the course maintenance. One thing about the rubber, it may not give you the "feedback" about touching the ground as well so you might actually put more strain on the attachment points as you rub and slide accross surfaces not realizing that you are doing serious force damage. At least with the present spoiler you get that "scraping" sound warning and know toback off and try a different angle. Just a thought.

Patrick,

I wrote an email requesting more information on an after market front spoiler from this website http://www.spoilers.com/index.cfm I also asked if they could make it in rubber. As soon as they respond, I'll let you know on this thread.

Like you I've beaten up my front spoiler too. I repaired it last spring and then had a friend spray it with a truck bed liner covering (look at my profile for a picture of the front spoiler) .It held up great until I pulled out of a lowering parking lot to street exit :(

Take care, Joe Duch

I read/heard somewhere that Euro TRs had a rubber front spoiler as an option. Anyone know anything about this? My US 88TR front spoiler is basically trashed due to driveways, speedbumps, etc. and the thought of paying $700-1,200 for a chunk of thin fiberglass that is going to get trashed again is against my better judgement. Was I dreaming when I hears/read about this? Are there aftermarket front spoilers that are less expensive? My front end seems to be very low compared to other TRs I've seen (strictly visual comparison). Is there a quick and easy way to adjust the front ride height or are we replacing springs? I asked a similar question earlier in the year - the answer at that time seemed to be a roller underneath to spare the spoiler, but the one I have is trashed, so I wanted to explore all possibilities.
Thanks in advance!
Patrick
