Yes, Stewarts Ferrari of Denver is doing the right thing however, twice when my car was there for service they dented the front end and dinged passenger door. The door ding occurred while I was having service work done. I was waiting for my car and was talking to Bob Muffler,(area technical manager) from Ferrari N.A.(from New Jersey). They brought my car and without telling me about the ding, parked it so it wasn't easily noticed. Mr Muffler wanted to see my car and I obliged, like a proud father. Afterward I drove straight home and saw the passenger door ding when I parked it in my garage.
I believe they didn't want to be embarrased in front of someone from FNA. So are they really doing the right thing?

If you get into the cam gears, consider replacing with aluminium aftermarket (available from several places).

Michael, a Ferrari dealership doing any work, let a lone work done 2000 miles ago "gratis"? Who do you take your car to? I need to save and print this for future issues should my dealership need to "redo" any work! I'm impressed.

For some reason the 5-8 belt does not tension up as easily as 1-4, I take extra time when replacing it and am especially careful to rotate the engine several times. It is possible to retension without disassenmbly, despite Ferrari not recommending it, since it is basically new I see no problem with doing it. When the work was done the tech should modify the 5-8 belt cover to give access to the water pump bolts, then the pump is easily serviced in future, definitely upgrade to the big bearing pump.

The belt covers do have to come off since there is not enough clearance for a couple of the water pump bolts to clear them. Timing belts do not usually stretch but do wear. The plastic pulleys that they used are also troublesome in that they have a high wear rate. Also there could have been an error made when the belts were installed and tensioned {they are human}.

Currently I have my '80 308 gtsi in the shop for a water pump repair and the dealer advised me that the timing belt covers had to be removed to access the pump. Then it got into the belts needing replacement.
The dealership is going to replace all of this for free (both belts/328 version water pump). You see they had recently done both services (approximately 2000 mi ago) and the water pump began leaking and now they're telling me the 5-8 bank belt was loose.
My question is do you need to take the timing covers off to access the water pump, and what would cause the 5-8 bank timing belt to "stretch"?? or is it something they did?
