For USA 308's, TRX tires and wheels were standard with the 1981 to mid 1983 model years. Before was the 14x7.5 wheel and after the 16" ones (7" wide front, 8"wide rear). |

Greg, Yes, standard on the Euro 308. I replaced my 390's with 16's so I could buy a newer tire. I have to say, for the cost of the switch (wheels & tires) it was just barely worth it. |

TRX was the standard tire I think. I'm pretty sure the 16s were an option, or at least that's the way it is on the FNA site, and explains a lot of QV pics I have seen. |

I thought Michelin TRX's were standard on the 308's, at least that is what my car had on it when purchased in 84. My car (according to the records I have) have always had TRX's on it. Just my 2 cents... |

I just put Dunlop SP Sport 8000 on the TR and they are great. The price was good and my friends at EuroTire in NJ have put them on several TR's. I felt they were a better deal then the Pilot's which I took off of the car when they wore too quickly without a performance edge. |

I just bought the new Michelin Pilot Sports for my '85. They are rated as the "new and the best performance tire" from Michelin. They are very expensive and, in my opinion, are not anywhere close to being what they are supposed to be. I was warned by a friend who owns a tire store that you're paying for the name with Michelin, but I didn't believe him and bought them anyway. Sorry I did - don't spend needless dollars on these babies - not worth it! The other thing I have to constantly remind myself of is that even with the newest and best tire available, I'm still running on a 15+ year old suspension. So to expect my car to handle like a new Ferrari (which I was hoping for) is unrealistic. |

I also have bridgestone RE730s and they are a very good tire for the money. The link to tirerack gives a lot of good info. That is where I got my tires. |

There are a lot of relatively inexpensive choices for tires for the 16" QV rims. Go to www.tirerack.com and do a search. I would consider going a bit wider as the QV rims will accept a wider tire no problem, and there is plenty of fender clearance. I am using Bridgestone RE730's in 225-50-16 front and 245-45-16 rear with no fitting problems. These tires are plenty good for my sedate driving style and are z-rated. I think the fronts were $110 and the rears $117. The nice thing about them is the sidewalls stick out just a bit extra (intentional design) to protect your wheels from curb rash. Haven't tested it yet, but nice to know it is there. |

Clark -- I thought the Goodyear Eagle GS-Cs were a decent value (good performance at a fair price): http://www.tirerack.com/tires/goodyear/gy_egsc.jsp Is it the Goodyear NCTs that are no longer available? |

Car was setup for Goodyears, lol. I didn't know road cars were being tuned for certain tires now. This is the type of Ferrari BS that 1) makes me laugh 2) annoys me. Why can't they just not be gay and give you an honest answer. I found Pirelli P7000s to be really nice all around tire. Better than my Potenzas in the dry, and night and day compared to them in the wet. They don't take much time heating up either before they start to grip well. Cheap too. |

I'm in the same situation. I asked the service department at Ferrari of Washington when I stopped in last week, and they said to ask Goodyear for the model that replaced the original tires. I asked about other manufacturers and they said the car was setup for Goodyears and they did not recommend switching brands. I'll be very interested to see the other responses you get to this question. |

Any recommendations for a good tire on a 85 308. My Goodyears are worn and they do not make them anymore? |
