Hi Steve, Thankyou for your response to my (our) recent inquiry. The 328 was mine but I did sell it to my brother about a year and a half ago. We were together for Christmas when he told me about the cat-over light acting irrationally. Actually, the owner's manual has the slo-down and fog lighrts in reverse position. ----- and to add just another tidbit to this is that as a lark(I think), my sister-in-law treated my brother to a 15 minute sample session with a psychic and he proceeded to tell my brother that he was going to experience some kind of mechanical problem. The next time he drove the 328 is when the problem originated. By the way, you have a real nice TRossa------Thanks again Steve |

Edwin -- if the "slow down" (cat over-temp) light stays on immediately after cold start-up you probably don't really have a cat over-temp problem, but you might also have a cat over-temp warning system that couldn't reliably detect one if you did. Could just be the connections (so worth a try to clean), or the appropriate ECU may be wacky. IMHO the bottom line is that if the self-test isn't working correctly then you can't trust the warning system to be working correctly -- for the self-test the warning light(s) should come on when the ignition is switched "on" and then go out after a second or two with the ignition still switched on (engine not running). You've got the problem that gets everyone's attention (the warning light coming on, or staying on, at the wrong times), but if the warning lights never come on during the self-test this is also a dangerous situation (and this problem doesn't usually get the same immediate attention). PS A 355 and a 328? any others? PPS Did you try a Keyword Search on: +warning +light to get the previous discussions on this subject? |

I own an '88 328GTS, with about 20,000 miles. The other day I started the engine and the "slow down" idiot light remained on. In reading the owners manual it states this could be something serious (the catalytic converter(s) are overheating). However, since I had just started the car, could they really be too hot? Since then I have started the car several more times driving it perhaps 25 miles. The idiot light goes off once in a while and will remain off until I turn off the engine. Other times the light remains on until I turn off the engine. Is this indeed a problem or could it be a bad connection? Thanks for your help. |

Is there a system like on the 360 where the computer needs a sequence to relearn parameters which might be caused by the voltage dropping a little from sitting? the 360 has to have the ignition on for 10 to 12 seconds I believe. |

Sounds like it is in the alarm module of the system. Good question. You may have to replace the module. Just a hunch. |

Hi Anyone have any ideas as to why, when I start my car, after sitting for a few days, the car turns over and then the alarm emits 4 beeps. I then drive the car and the dash board alarm light remains on. If I stop the car and turn off the engine and then restart maybe 20 minutes later, I do not get those 4 beeps.???????? |
