The gaskets arecheap and way cheaper than doing the job over! Make sure that you stick to factory specs, they know what they are doing and nothing will be gained from going different. IMHO and from experience.

If your carb bodies are covered in varnish (the brown-coloured goo from fuel vapours), it would be a good idea to replace the gaskets (choke mechanism and accelerator pump cover gaskets and the top cover gasket).

I would say it depends on how the gaskets look and feel. However as you know, new ones are better insurance.

I was planning on ckecking float levels on my 308 carbs. Do you need to replace the gasket when you do this or can it be reused if it is in good condition? Thanks for your opinion.
