Sorry for the delay...it's been a little hectic around here over the holidays, and I haven't had a chance to tackle the tach lens yet. Looks as if I'll get a chance over the weekend. I read the "nylon rod" posts, and found a good nylon tool for the job. I'll let you know how everything turns out. |

Eric, I haven't heard from you. How did your R&R of the lens glass work out? |

Eric, I went to the keyword search and typed in "NYLON ROD." The entire proceedure is outlined there in length, quite a lot to go into again. Try the Keyword search and if you have a problem e-mail me . Magoo |

Thanks Magoo... Managed to get the speedo lens/ring off so as to clean the lens; however, could not get it back on! Ended up having to use auto trim adhesive since the chrome ring would not slip back over the lip of the gauge. At this stage, I'm really having second thoughts about removing the tach lens to clean it also. What a job that turned out to be. Is there a secret to getting the ring back on? |

Eric, That was my thread on the removal of the face of the speedo. or tach.. As David said it is nylon rod not a nylon cord. If you get stuck you are welcome to email me. |

Thanks, David... I'll give the nylon cord a try and let you know how it goes. |

Look up "nylon rod" on the keyword search. There is a disscussion about removing the trim ring on a Veglia clock that would also apply to your speedometer. |

Has anyone had experience with removing the glass (?) face plate (or speedometer for that matter) from the tachometer of a 1985 308? It seems to be held in place by a black & chrome ring. Was wondering if this ring unscrews, or if the gauge is one entire sealed unit. The reason I ask is that the inner face of the glass is a little hazy (age I guess), and I'd like to give it a good polishing over the weekend. |
