I picked up one of those Baldwin air filters yesterday. The part number Peter gave was correct. The price was $32 canadian (I guess about $20.00 US. It looks to be better made than the UFI filter that was on my car. I haven't put it on yet but it seems to be a perfect match to the old one. |

to clean a K&N, put it in your automatic dishwasher. let air dry. tap out any loose dirt, blow "very lightly" with compressed air. Hint; For a problem free cleaning, take out the wifes china before trying this. |

Richelson, David is correct. Using individual filters will cause you a loss of performance. You have to have the tunneled outside air rammed into the airbox for the best performance. Otherwise the carbs are sucking heated engine bay air which is not good for the best performance. But the thought of it sounds great doesn't it. Those air cleaners sitting up there when you open the engine cover and the sound would be awesome. Yeah, but the performance would be much less then what it originally was. |

The other advantage with K&N is that you can get a 'recharge' kit for about $10. This includes a cleaning spray and spray on oil. If you want to clean the K&N then you can't use compressed air or water with much pressure because it ruins the filter. (Blows out the filter material) Dirk |

Thanks for the info. I was thinking about putting the indivdual filters on my 308 but I guess it isn't a very good idea. K&N claims a horsepower gain too. |

I have a K&N on my carb 308 and it works just fine.... As far as a kit??? If you are referring to individual air filters for each carb, don't do it... you will loose the fresh air being fed right to the carbs going that route... and a drop in HP. The great thing about the K&N, just clean and re-use. No more air fliters to buy... |

Dave, is that for the complete K&N kit for a carb 308? Do you have a set on your 308? Any differences? |

Good price Peter, but if anyone wants a K&N filter, go to www.performanceintl.com they have the carb 308 K&N filter for $48 and the FI version for only $37. Shipping is additional, but very reasonable. I bought mine there, they don't stock the Ferrari applications, so expect a two to three week wait. The one for my Honda arrived in three days though. |

I was at my local Baldwin dealer ordering filters for my daily driver and asked about the 308 carb air filter: It is PA2094, it is avaliable (although a couple of weeks wait) and using my workplace discount, I can get these air filters for $31 Canadian (excl. taxes). Pretty cheap considering what little choices we have (UFI or K&N, both $$). Let me know if anyone is interested... Or check with your local supplier if he can get you at a similar price... I was also surprised that the B253 is always on the shelf at my supplier. He hardly has any car filters, why would a Ferrari filter be on the shelf? It turns out our beloved filter is used on some sort of on-site generator/compressor.... Not so exotic after all.... |
