There was a stock radio, it was an option though. I have a sony radio/CD in my car from probably the early-mid 90s. It works for me, I don't need anything exotic and the style of it goes very well with the interior of the 308. |

There was no stock radio on a 308/238. It came without. |

I thought I saw recently where people install a specially made radio elsewhere on the car and keep the stock in place. They do this for older cars that go to shows and want to look as original as possible. I think I saw it on one of the Speedvision programs. Maybe someone else has some additional information. |

I have used HiFi Buys to install a stereo system in several of my Ferraris. |

Clark, I hope your not talking about replacing the stock stereo with a nice sounding head unit and amp, which will sound great... but remove your chances of ever winning a concours... |

Clark, If you don't want a separate amp or disc changer it's easy as pie. You already have speakers in the doors and RCA jacks that come up behind the blank cover plate/old radio. Now, I'm not saying that this will sound good, it won't. But, it's enough to get the traffic report or listen to a book on CD. You can do this in about 30 minutes. In fact, a 308 is probably the easiest car there is to do this in 'cause you don't have to take anything apart. If you want to add the other components I mentioned and new speakers (which you will probably want to do), I'm not going to be of any help. There is no way I'd let anyone but me cut my car. The so called best-in-town has broken something everytime I fooled with it. Mine's a platinum winner too & originality is what it's all about to me. Of course, if I had a Boxer, I'd leave the stock radio in place. Blank plates are available at T-Rutlands in Tucker. My car has never had a radio in it. I thought about it once or twice. But, it would have to be turned up so loud that I'd sound like one of those tricked-out Eclipse punks. Besides, I want to hear if something goes wrong (like those darn popping vacume line check-valves - a GM part, but that's another subject). I don't think I could hear, or want to hear a radio if I had one. Heck, if the top is off, I have to pull over & shut off the engine to talk on my phone. One idea would be to get a radio with headphone jacks so you could hear it. Most folks do have stereos in their cars. I wonder how many actually use them. I'm sure I'm way in the minority here. Anyway, that Hifi place (you know the one) they put a dent in my Supra one time testing the new alarm, and denied it. I'm so bitter that I'll either stick with stock or do without from now on. I guess if I bought a Ferrari with a tape deck or a broken radio I'd just swap it out myself. Sorry I'm of no help to you, thanks for allowing me to vent. |

I am looking for a competent person to do a stereo install in a 85 308 in Atlanta. The car won Platinum Concours and a Coppa Bella award at the Dallas meet so i want someone who will do a great job and keep things as original as possible. Thanks, Clark |
