There are certain chemicals in SOME of our additives in the US that may harm the internals of the Bosch K jetronic fuel injection over a long period of time. There are rubber O RINGS inside the k jetronic fuel distributor, and there are certain chemicals in some of the additives that eat those O rings over a length of time and cause all sorts of weird running problems in k jetronic cars. Its just common knowledge if you work on CIS Bosch systems for many years. Most Ferrari's that I service have some sort of fuel injection problems, quite common, caused in some cases by harsh fuel or octane boost additives used over periods of time. It is just something I have experienced over the years of working with Bosch CIS.There is no need to run a octane boost in any stock Ferrari engine that's using a Marelli ignition system,Euro spec or US spec. The timing is so detuned for safety anyways!Just use Chevron Fuel with occasional Techroline.[ if you are doing a long freeway trip is when I recommend the Techroline]you will have a happy Ferrari. |

Thought I'd start a new topic to keep this seperate from others. I have a 328GTS Euro, no cats. My information shows that it has a higher compression ratio too and therefore requires higher octane gas. After I bought the car I started to use octane boosters since the premium octane pump rating is now only 93 (avg). Nick, I was concerned about your comments regarding US made octane boosters. Can you elaborate... Thanks |
