I think that the maintenance will be much higher on the TR pricewise than the 308. I imagine the torque is higher on the TRs though. |

I have a 80 308 GTSI, love the looks of the car, but the acceleration was lacking, So I purchased a 1990 TR. Decided to keep them both. Love the torque of the TR. The cars are completely different in performance and looks. Ferraris are incredible! |

The biggest problem I have seen with TRs is they are not driven enough. Ithink that really is the rpoblem with many Ferrraris. I drive mine all the time, all over the place. My major maintenance issues in 3 years have been a clutch, a fuse box and a broken cooling hose. I have driven 15,000 miles since I got it and I live in the 5000 - 6800 rpm range (it loves it up there) - neck snapping torque. She is smooth and fires up every time. My 30K is coming up in 3 months and that should be adventure. I must admit I have a high tolerance for this stuff. I have an airplane with two turbocharged engines that require the maintenance of 10 TRs every year so this car really doesn't seem excessive to me. |

I don't know, that flat 12 can be intoxicating, especially without cats and a nice exhaust (borla is sweet). |

Save the problems and go for a 348 if you can. Much more driveable and about the same reliability, should hold $$ better too. IMHO |

I had an 81 Euro 308 GTBi before the 88TR - the major difference is the price of the parts. Be prepared for serious sticker shock and fairly limited options for anything but stock. Using ItalianCarParts as my comparison site, a clutch kit for a 308QV is $699.95 for the kit and $94.50 for the throwout bearing - for the TR the clutch kit is $1,795 or $2,250 plus $495 for the throwout bearing. The windows aren't any faster than a 308 and the "mouse" seatbelts are a joke - but the acceleration and 12 cylinder roar makes up for a few financial irritations. |

Hi all. I have a 1984 308 GTSi QV in perfect condition. I am thinking of selling it only because i am board with it. I have a potential nuyer interested who has made me an offer. If i sell the car i was considering buying a later model Testarossa (87,88 or 89) or a Viper. I know of all the potential problem areas on the 308 including the fusebox, rusting, and the slow ass windows. What are some of the common problems with the TR? How does the maintance on the TR compare with the 308. My 308 was very reliable for a Ferrari and I did not have any real prblems with it. Finally, I searched the net, but I could not find a sight dedicated to the testarossa. Does anyone know one? I want to research HP, dimensions, performance and specs. I appreciate any help. Andyman |
