I had a similar problem on a 91 Mitsibishi 3000. Had the throttle body replaced and the problem went away. I don't know squat about FI, so I couldn't explain what was wrong and why it worked after the replacement. I do know that the first attempt to repair this problem involved cleaning and fiddling around with the original throttle body. It worked for about a week. |

I dont have a Ferrari yet, but I did have a similar problem on my 95 Pontic GP GTP. The engine would start and I would immediately get a RPM fluctuation. The fluctuation went away after the engine warmed up.
The culprit was a cracked intake manifold gasket. When it was cold, it would let air into the intake thru the gasket leak and apparently this caused the mass-flow sensor to try to adjust fuel flow (i.e. throttle) to keep the mass-flow ratio of air and fuel constant.
I am not too familiar with how the 308 systems work or even if this type of situation can occur on the 308. It took the mechanics a while to figure out the problem after I paid to have the throttle body cleaned and some other work done to no avail.
I hope this info helps out a little bit. Another thing you might do is contact Tony Palladino at Modena Motors (www.modena-motors.com.) He writes technical articles for Forza magazine.

It surges right after it gets off of cold idle. Is this something to worry about? |

Thanks for the info. I have heard from others that it is in the coolant temp sensor. Any ideas? |

I have an 83QV and it idles right at 1000-1100. |

I test drove an 83' QV yesterday and the idle would surge between 500 and 800 rpm. It would drop and then come right back up as if somone was reving the engine. |
