Craig;

My TR has slight wear in one spot on the side bolster where it is actualy wearing thru...I also am not sure if it's the way Iget in our out, esp cause I do not think my love handles are that bad. :-)

Torai, Could it be possible that someone , maybe a service tech, sat in the car with a screwdriver in his rear pocket.

Redying will not dry out the leather if you use the right type of leather dye. Connelly leather dyes are a water based lacquer with no thinners to dry out the leather. Hersons whose add is found in Hemmings Auto is your best source of the product. I don't have the info. with me right now but will give it as soon as I find it if no one else comes up with it.

Redying will dry out the leather. The best way I have found to touch up the leather is Kiwi paste show polish. It goes on easy, dries fast, buffs out well and last a long time.

When I bought my 328 at 40K miles, it had little wear on the drivers seat--it had not been repaired or redyed previously. I've driven it 5K miles since and it started showing some wear at about 3K miles. Since then, I have been redying it at intervals to keep it looking new. I attribute the wear to me being a big guy - 6'-4". I can't tell if it's the way I exit the car or the wear from my wallet in my back pocket.

Torai, I have 70'000km on my -85 308qv and my driver's seat (left side bolster) show only minor wear (faded colour). The odometer must be in miles.

Tears seem unusual, but could happen even when the car is brand new, with a careless owner. Even relatively low mileage cars WILL show side bolster wear on the driver's seat, it is inevitable, just from getting in/out of the car.

Low mileage cars with no side bolster wear, most likely had them resprayed, which is very common.

328's shouldn't have much problem with water pumps, since they have the upgraded larger bearing units first used in the 308 QV series.

The seats of any Ferrari will show signs of wear in 10,000 miles, a lot of wear will be showing by 70K miles or 70K Km . All U.S. spec cars are in miles not Km. I put over 25,000 miles on my 1986 328GTS and never changed the water pump.

Does wear leaving a narrow hole about 3/4" / 20 mm long in the left side of the driver's seat sound right for a 70,000 mi/km Ferrari 328.

Is the odo in miles or km for a US spec 1986 328?

How fast do 328's eat water pumps?
