Priced out the hose for the blower to the heater core. Ferrari price for this 3.125" ID hose was right at 127$ per side(approx 39 inches per) I contacted a US hose manufacturer for a custom order, they will make a 25' length of it for 125! Careful with those expensive hoses! |

Warren, no such thing on my car, take a look at the page from my parts catalogue below. When (and if at all) I do install filters, I decided to do it right at the fan, to keep the crap from messing up the fan and the rest of the system would follow suit. Good tip though for the filtering element, thanks!
P.S. I'm well aware of what's lurking in the front compartment, I'll be doing the hoses as well, so I've poked around in there already. Amazing how small these heater cores are and how much heat they put out! The A/C can't cool for s---, but the heaters definitely work! |

Peter, Well I decided to take a look at my filters. This 79 308 GTS only has 6000 miles on it but the filters were discinerated. They were a poly foam. Go to ACE hardware, Kmart,or Walmart and look in the A\C filter section. Frost King has a 1\4 inch filter polyfoam filter. Okay that was the easy part. Start with the passenger side. Just remove the fiberglass cover behind the spare tire. Then go to the passenger side. Pop off the front of the heater core box. Use the front as a template and cut two of the filters. Install one filter in the box and replace the front cover. Now go to the drivers side. Don't do any thing but pry the front off of the box remove the old particles and slide the new filter in place. I removed the front plate from the vent hose to get more work space. What a bear getting it back together. These filters are important as I see it to keep bugs out of the heater fins. Anyway it ain't to bad of a job as long as you don't remove the driver side front plate from the vent hose. MAGOO |

Yeah no one replaces them. I would venture to guess that like 90% of them are the original ones that came from the factory. |

2 Ferrari shops told me "don't even worry about it, its not worth the time and effort to replace." |

The filters are in those black squares when you take out the back fiberglass portion of the spare tire area (near the brake booster). I have noticed that the paper-like tubing that is the intact for the heating system is starting to get somewhat brittle on my car, Has anyone replaced this with something new? |

The 308s have a filter on each heater core. You could easily cut some bulk material to fit. |

Your ventilation fans should be right up front there, near the egg-crate grill. If filters are going to be anywhere, they'll be there. I'm pretty sure the 328 uses squirrel-cage fans like the ones in my GT4. I don't have any filters and am thinking of installing something to keep all the crap that ends up in my face when I'm moving along at a decent pace. A dump-truck cut in front of me and got sand in my eyes! Not pleasant! |

My 1986 328GTS owners manual refers to "cleaning the heater/ventilation filter every 6 months". Does anyone know where this filter is located? (It doesn't seem to appear in any of my manuals - parts or service). |
