The bmw seals are similar in size and shape cosmetically, they fit the guide and stem perfectly. They have a steel collar with some sort of rubber lining to grip the guide and the lip seal is rubber or viton with a spring like a cam seal. The ferrari ones that I removed from my heads were white teflon, very hard and probably difficult to work over the keeper groove during installation. These went in easy and gripped the guide like glue. |

Are they the same style/type as the Ferrari seals, or a different construction? |

I got the seals through someone I know. Ill double check but if I recall correctly, they were from an 86 M5. The valve shims are the same as well. If you need shims, m5 or volvo 240 are the same. Im sure you will need shims if you are in that deep. No sense skipping that while you are there. |

Paul, My 308 GT4 has 2 cyl's that suck some oil past their valve seals, forward bank of course! They have probably split like the valve seal failures that other 2-valve owners have experienced. Which model BMW were the seals for? |

I used bmw seals in my 308 during a rebuild and they work great. They are soft unlike the teflon seals from the factory. I dont know about the honda thing. As long as the dimensions are the same, they will work. |

Do Ferrari heads use valve seals? I have heard both yes and no. I was also told that Ferrari switched to "Honda" valve seals sometime in the 80's which were better. Is this true? |
