I've replaced those plastic, exposed-wire fuses for those glass GBC ones. I didn't trust those exposed-wire ones.

The 308 fusebox is notorious for having gremlins. Remove all the fuses, carefully clean each holder with a fine wire brush. Be certain that each holder places a bit of tension on the fuse. Clean each fuse end carefully, replace it if it shows a corroded/indented ring on the end as this will cause conductivity problems. I have noticed that the rivets which hold the fuse clamp to the terminal are often corroded in between and need jumpered with a wire and solder. Relays clicking when you pull on wires/ fuseblock is not a good thing. Focus your attention here. Good luck.

Thanks guys. I have been having this problem since about November and I have no had my car die on me yet. I even drove it at night with the headlights, heater, and radio going and the car has kept going fine and it starts up everytime. As I had stated when I would pull the fuseblock out about 2 cm the "G" light would go off and my relays would click and then the lights would work again. If the regualtor was bad my car would not run after a while due to battery drain, right? I will check the battery and voltage. Please let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks.

The voltage regulator is removeable without disassembling the Alternator. It is held on with two screws on the SRE end which is the slip ring end or rear of the alternator. The brushes are also in the regulator assembly and are replaceable without replacing the regulator. You just need a good soldering gun. In any case of a generator light comming on first check the belt tension and then remove the regulator and check to see if the brushes are worn out. If so you have found your problem. If they are not, then purchase a new regulator and try it, as in most Bosch failures it is the regulator. It may even be replaceable with the alternator in the car if you can get the heat shield off.

Greg, the G light comes on only when the battery is not charge up to 12.3+ Volts and the high RPM's then charges the battery faster and the light goes out. If the light comes on during regular drive and stopping, it means the Alternator is not charging the battery. Or the battery is over 3 or 4 years old and the "Cold Cranking Power" is about gone. And while under load driving condition at high RPM the ALt can not charge the "Bad" battery fast enough and the engine dies. Normally the regulator is build in to the alternator now days.
The stop lights and signals are on the same fuse. Sometimes the fuse needs to be clean or replace because of corrosion. The contacts top and bottom can be to far apart also. Does your Hazard lights work? Wipers? I'm sure that the light problem and the "G" light problem are two different situations by looking at my wiring diagram.

Oh the "G" light! When this happened to me, it was the voltage regulator in my alternator that went. As the revs rose the light dimmed and eventually went out, but as soon as the revs dropped it came back on. Progressively I could not rev the engine; 6000rpm, then 5500rpm, then 4000rpm, then I couldn't drive it past idle and it died. My Dad came by, jump-started me and I was able to nurse it home. Pulled it out, bought a $14 Cdn regulator and it ran free and smooth.

Check your battery to see if its charging as the revs rise. If its fine, then it could be those connections that are giving you problems.

When my brake lights didn't work, it was the switch that wasn't working properly (seized-up from disuse). Located on a threaded tab near the steering wheel shaft under the dash.

Hi all, my 78' 308's brake light and turn signals are not working. What normally happens is that when I turn my Ferrari on the G light stays lit until about 1500 rpm and turns off. Then after the car warms up it will be on temporarily and when I hit the brakes it comes on full power and my Brake lights and turn signals aren't working. I can't quite figure out what it is. When I pull on the fuseblock slightly sometimes it will go off and make a clicking sound by my relays so, I was thinking maybe it is a bad relay or just a bad connection? Thanks for your help. GREG
