Thanks for the help! Gives me a starting point, I will check the condition of the sending unit wire and ground it out to see if the needle moves. I'll change out the sender if the needle does move.

Call GT Carparts, it's about $50.00 for a new oil pressure gauge sender. But check that it is not a broken wire first. Chek and see if it is sending. Don;t forget to order a gasket for the oil filter bracket, it will hve to come off to fix. |

There are 3 seperate senders for oil. 1 for temp at the bottom of the crankcase and 2 at the oil filter housing. The large gold one is for the pressure gauge and the small one pointing under the intake is for the light. Try unplugging the pressure sender and grounding the wire and watch the gauge. If it moves, the sender is at fault. |

I would not run the engine unless the oil gauage is working - too risky in my opinion. Most likely the sending unit but tough to tell. palo alto speedo is the place to send your tach and speedo. |

I'm a new owner, '79 308 GTS. A few problems here and there, nothing major. The Speedo and Tach only work about half the time. I did a search on this board and found plenty of info to get me started on those. Another Problem - the oil pressure gauge does not work. The little "no oil pressure" light in the gauge does work. Does anyone have experience with this? Are there separate sending units for the light and the gauge? I would assume changing the sending unit would be the cheapest and easiest method of verifying whether or not it is the gauge itself. If it is the gauge, is it easy to remove? Is it easy to locate a replacement? Although I have viewed this site many times and gotten a great deal of info from it, this is my first post. Any info is appreciated. Thanks, Pete |
