Bill,

Check out this thread about the knock-offs. http://server.ferrarichat.com/~ferrari/ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/112/28133.html I think it might help with some answers.

Thanks guys.

No, there is no wrench in my toolkit. I guess another owner needed it more than I. Is there a locally available type of wrench that I can use with a hammer to remove this lug? Port Saint Lucie is 40 miles North of West Palm Beach, on the East coast.

I agree. I guess you won't be changing tires on the side of the road. Why did they use a single lug design. Seems like a high risk IMO. Thanks for the info.

The biggest problem with these wheels is that getting 325 ft lbs of torque with a lead hammer is not so easy therefore most people never got them tight enough (325 ft lbs is an amazing amount of torque.)

Is it true that these single lug wheels had a problem with coming off on some cars? I read that in earlier posts and was just curious.

Stainless Steel Brake Corp makes a Kit (with socket, torque wrench and calibrated extension bar)for the Ferrari. They are in Buafflo NY.

Remember those single nut wheels get torque to 325 ft lbs!

Bill;

There is not a large lug removal wrench in your kit? There is a socket you can get from Snap-on, but the wrench and hammer that comes with the car works great. Where are you located...someone may be near by with one.

Greetings!

It's been quite while since I've been here - I see the forum has changed a bit.

I'm sure this has been gone over before, but what do you use to change the wheels on an 86 TR?

The passenger side rear one to be exact. I'm assuming that the removal is conter to the normal forward rotation of the wheel. After using a venier caliber, the 8 sided lug appears to accept a 2&15/16 socket, but that would be quite a large socket & bar to find here in Port Saint Lucie, Florida.
Thanks for any help and nice to be back.
There is nothing in the limited tool kit that would be of any help here. (and the tire is flat!)
