I'm going to attempt to refinish the rear deck, but I don't know how to take the window apart. It's not very obvious where to begin since there are no visible starting points. Any suggestions?

Kelly, If the cloth or vinyl has not been painted, dyed, the best thing to use is lacquer thinner to clean it. Try a small spot first. Be careful though too much may drip onto something you don't want it on. But lacquer thinner is a great cleaning agent to clean vinyl and also convertible tops. |

The aluminum panel from inside the engine compartment is much easier to remove if you have the engine lid off....otherwise you need to be very limber and still be able to deal with a bit of pain. |

Agree.....it is not a quick job, but can be done by anyone with time on their hands. You put the rear quarter rubber for the windows back in by using a small piece of rope to pull the rubber back into place. |

It ain't easy!!! You have to remove the aluminum panel from inside the engine compartment that bolts up below the rear window and has several fuel line vent lines attached to it. That is where you will find the nut that holds the center filler strip for the rear shelf panels. You then need to remove both rear quarter windows. That's right, remove both window glasses in order to drill out the rivets that hold the sides of the upper panels. After their removal you can pry off the two small side panels that have plastic clips and drill out the remaining upper and side panel rivets and then pull the center panel toward the front of the car to disengage the slide in clips. Nothing to it. |
