Sorry for all the questions Rob, but I was at work and trying to go from memory. Well, I did look at mine when I got home and the only thing that was bent was the guides for the jack as I had said. I guess I'm just lucky that no one lifted my car in a bad spot yet. But I will try the trick to bend them back with the adj wrench...

Yes there certainly some mechanics that are a couple fries short of a Happy Meal out there, mine were also bent when I bought my car, using a small adjustable wrench, I was able to grab an edge, and work it about to straighten them, I have cut up some 1 1/4" X 2"x 3/4" flat bar that fits in the slot to lift my car without having to fold these again , I keep them in the trunk just in case ,........Ang

Mine too are bent just in front of the rear wheel-wells, a U-shaped steel channel that does double duty for the gas tanks to sit on. I just bent them back to shape. I've always jacked my car up on the oval frame tube itself and placed the jackstands under the pads on those tubes. I don't know if this happens to you guys as well, but when I have the car up on four stands and the doors are closed, I can't open them, they get jammed by the frame flexing a bit. Don't be too alarmed, I'd say it would be about 1/16th of an inch, but its just enough to jamm the door catch.

Yeah, welcome to the wonderful world of dumb***, self-proclaimed, Ferrari mechanics... This is a real pet peeve of mine. Nearly every 308 and 328 I've ever looked at has localized crushing on these valance panels from improper positioning of floor lift pads. It can probably be fixed easily, but no one I know has ever bothered as it is well hidden. Plus, due to low ground clearance, most of these cars are pretty banged up on the underside anyway. If yours is a show quality car, you may want to make the repair.

My advice is to look over the mechanic's shoulder next time he lifts your car.

And remember, "Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool."

When you say "wheel to wheel" do you mean "left to right" or "front to rear"?

Well, there is this plastic skirt the goes from wheel to wheel on the bottom. It's some type of plastic. It's angled from where the steel stops back under the car, but on mine it's not uniform and it looks like there are apx. 1 foot sections that have been bent an inch or more.

Rob... I'm not sure what you mean. If you mean the jack point (where you slide the jack into the frame supports), mine are bent too. I haven't tried to straighten them yet.

Anyone have this prob on their car? It's hard to see because they angle back anyway under car, but if you look on that level I notice they are bent. Most likely from using the wrong lift points. Does anyone know what it would take to straighten them out?

Thanks
