Check if the alternator belt is a little too loose. |

Remove the belt and run the engine through the RPM range that the noise occurs and see if it solves the problem. It will not hurt to run the engine a few minutes with the belt off. |

Just recently on cold days, my 88 Mondial makes a ticking sound that goes for about a minute or so then goes away when warmed up. A friend who is an 308 owner mentioned that it might be a alternator belt that needs to be changed. Also, at about 4,500 rpm, the engine makes a high pitched squeaking noise. (not very loud). Is that related to the water pump belt? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |
