Mine have a fiberglass-like insulation stuffed in it. I've never heard any rattling noises come from mine, but then again, its hard to hear anything else over the loud exhaust!

You can test the manifolds for cracks/leaks, but if you have one, you have to cut the sheilds off and remove the insulation to repair...big job. Larry who posts here occasionally, has a GT4 like mine and has had several leaks which he had repaired. He would be best to ask for advice for this.

Is there something to do with the heat shields beeing loose on the manifolds. Do they not make noise during engine running? Have there been some isolation material inside? What to do?
