Got the pulley installed on the replacement pump. I warmed the pulley with a heat gun. It slid on quite easily after that. Without heating the pulley, it was not too interested in slipping over the shaft. |

Pulley alignment is not set by the nut. It's the "backstop" that matters (A lip on the shaft, or the bearing race, I forget which). The key is to make sure the wodruff key is straight, and torque the nut to the proper torque. |

While I'm doing the timing belts, I am also installing a rebuilt water pump. I removed the drive pulley from the old water pump. How do I know how far to run the pulley nut on the water pump shaft? I guess I could count threads; two were exposed when I removed the nut from the old pump. I am worried about alignment with the crank pulley. |
