Tapping puller shaft did the trick. After all this work, the failure turned out to be in the retractable headlights knob.

Carmine, If you have the nut off the shaft the hub should come off. Put some loosen nut or WD 40 on the shaft where the splines are. Tighten the puller up with a wrench as tight as you can get it by hand and then tap the end of the puller shaft with a hammer taking up the slack by tightening with the wrench as you go. It should pop in a few turns. |

I'm trying to remove the steering wheel hub so I can get to the column switch. I have a puller attached, but I'm reluctant to apply much force for fear that the screws may snap in the column hub, or worse yet, the hub threads may strip. This thing is wedged really tight.
