Lawrence -- IMO the "best" specification to follow is in the proper model/year/version Owner's Manual (or on the car itself as Ed said) since this gets updated more frequently than the WSMs. But both ranges you state could be "correct" for a 328 depending on the version -- my impression is that on the more "emissioned" F versions (that run hotter) they increase the exhaust valve clearance range a bit to account for the higher temperatures. |

look on the engine emissions data decal on the car and use the specs there. |

I'm finding contradictions between my owner's manual and shop manual for the exhaust valve clearances. Owner's manual says 0.35 - 0.40 mm Shop manual says 0.30 - 0.35 mm in places but also says 0.35 - 0.40 mm in an illustration. Which figure range is correct? |
