Did you pull the gear assembly apart picture below? This unit needs to be pulled apart and cleaned. I found soaking the pieces in automotive lacquer thinner cleaned the waxy grease nicely. Also it did not damage any of the pieces. When reassembling regrease the gear and inside of housing...+ make sure all the rollers are cleaned in the same manner. My 308 window is really fast...I also replace the motors with a heavy duty replacement I bought on ebay..there is another thread around this one on window switches which state some other goodies...also cleaning the switches will help with motor operation. |

I pulled the passenger side motor apart to try and improve the mechanism .. it was painfully slow and even used to stop. I cleaned, lubricated ... put it back together ... still slow. The motor seems strong ... caught my fingers a couple of times when i was tensioning it. What was your improvement like? I have a good contact in a Ferrari main dealer who says they used to try and fix the same problem ... slow windows ... they renewed everything from pulleys, to the slots the windows slide up. Sometimes no improvement .. sometimes an improvemnet for ~ 6 months. Used to cost ~ $1700 / door .. the motor (complete with new cables) was ~ $600. Any tips? Pete |

Jerry it is a pretty simple task. I did the drivers side on my 308 when I replaced the window motor. And will probably do the passenger side next week. If you do not get a response any quicker, I will email you a step by step when I pull mine down. |

My cable is frayed...I am down to one strand. I noticed it when I went to replace the slow window motors. |

The cable has at both ends, soft-metal (I think lead, or maybe white-metal, either or, its not exotic) triangular-shaped lugs, which fit into sockets on the cable spool. I'm not sure what you may use to replace these lugs, or to reattach the old ones to new cable, soldering? There's not much room within the sockets for another fastening method. Is your old cable frayed, broken, or stretched?

The cable begins and ends in the window motor (the spool actually). I just want to get an idea of what's in store for me. Thanks, Jerry. |
